Emperor: Battle for Dune – Ordos Units

The insidious Ordos make use of faster units than the other houses, and are more accustomed to hit-and-run tactics. Its special weapons are stealthy or forbidden technologies: the Saboteur, the Eye In The Sky, and the Deviator.

Infantry

Ordos ScoutScout
Cost:
$30 | Prerequisites: none
Scouts are unarmed infantrymen whose stealthed suits and increased sight range allow for effective scouting.

Chemical TrooperChemical Trooper
Cost:
$50 | Prerequisites: none
Armed with a chemical weapon, this soldier deals reasonable damage to enemy infantry and is commonly used for early game scouting. He can also irradiate an area, damaging any unit that enters it.

AA TrooperAA Trooper
Cost: $100 | Prerequisites: none
The AA Trooper is, expectedly, a unit which excels in taking out enemy aircraft at a relatively long range, but is less effective against vehicles than the Harkonnen Trooper.

Mortar InfantryMortar Infantry
Cost:
$100 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Barracks
When undeployed, Mortar Infantrymen are slow and fire only a pistol for basic self-defence. When deployed, they fire a long-range mortar that deals decent damage to enemy vehicles.

SaboteurSaboteur
Cost:
$150 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Barracks
The Saboteur is not armed with conventional weaponry. Instead, he attempts to enter an enemy building, after which he destroys both the target and himself along with it.

Ordos EngineerEngineer
Cost:
$400 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Barracks
Engineers are used to capture enemy buildings or repair friendly ones. Since they carry no weapons, they are extremely vulnerable on the battlefield and must be directed very carefully. Engineers are very slow.

Vehicles

HarvesterHarvester
Cost:
$1000 | Prerequisites: Refinery
This armour-plated vehicle seeks out and scoops up Spice, then transports it to a Refinery for processing. It is slow and unwieldy and will need to be protected. However, it is well-armoured and can take a beating until reinforcements arrive, and can crush infantry if the need arises. It can be transported to the Refinery and back to the Spice field by a Carryall.

Dust ScoutDust Scout
Cost:
$350 | Prerequisites: none
Fast and lightly armoured, this unit is ideal for scouting an area quickly and taking out enemy infantry. It can also burrow itself in the sand to conceal itself from enemy view.

Laser TankLaser Tank
Cost:
$700 | Prerequisites: none
The Laser Tank is the basic Ordos anti-armour unit. It is a fast hovercraft that can fire while moving. However, if it fires its laser at a shielded unit, the laser will reflect from it and damage both the target and the Laser Tank.

MCVMobile Construction Vehicle (MCV)
Cost:
$2000 | Prerequisites: none
As you will see in the section on Ordos buildings, the heart of every base is the Construction Yard. When deployed, this vehicle becomes a Construction Yard, providing you with all of the benefits of that building. To deploy an MCV, select the vehicle and hold the cursor over it. If the cursor changes to a white circle with four arrows, left-clicking on it will deploy the vehicle. If the cursor has a red circle with a line through it, there is either not enough room to deploy or something is in the way. Move the vehicle (or the offending object) to find a suitable deployment site. The MCV must be protected at all costs.

Ordos APCArmoured Personnel Carrier (APC)
Cost:
$900 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Factory
This missile-armed vehicle can transport friendly infantry units across the battlefield. It is also shielded and faster, but with weaker armour than the Atreides counterpart.

KobraKobra
Cost:
$1200 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Factory
The Kobra is a powerful artillery vehicle which can fire in mobile state, but only in the direction its turret is pointing at. When deployed, its turret is free to rotate at will and gains higher firing range. It is very slow, but well-armoured.

DeviatorDeviator
Cost:
$950 | Prerequisites: Starport
The Deviator, Ordos’ signature late game vehicle, does not deal direct damage. Instead, its missiles change the allegiance of enemy vehicles caught in the blast. It is helpless against enemy infantry and aircraft, however. It is shielded.

Aircraft

AA MineAnti-Air (AA) Mine
Cost:
$600 | Prerequisites: none
This slow airborne mine is meant for ramming enemy aircraft.

CarryallCarryall
Cost:
$1100 | Prerequisites: none
The Carryall is able to transport a Harvester from a Spice field to the Refinery and back.

Advanced CarryallAdvanced Carryall
Cost:
$1800 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Hangar
The Advanced Carryall is able to transport any ground vehicle across the battlefield, and is better-armoured than its standard counterpart.

Eye In The SkyEye In The Sky
Cost:
$2000 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Hangar
The Eye In The Sky is a slow, unarmed aircraft which detonates above its target and releases a Saboteur to the area beneath.

unknownFrigate
Unbuildable

The Frigate delivers units to the Starport. It is blazing-fast and can not be controlled.
