What is The Rise of the Witch-king?
The official expansion pack for The Battle for Middle-earth II, outsourced to BreakAway Games. Unlike the base game, it did not have an Xbox 360 version.
Acting as a prequel to the events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the story of The Rise of the Witch-king follows, as the name shows, the Witch-king and his rising influence in the land of Angmar, where he builds an army of corrupted men, trolls, and wolves. There is only one central campaign, with a separate epilogue featuring good factions fighting off the Witch-king’s army.
Angmar is the seventh playable faction in the game, while the existing factions got some new units to fight with. The War of the Ring mode has been expanded with more scenarios, including some that involve the unplayable Arnor faction (which is a combination of good factions’ units), and the Create-A-Hero mechanic received some new options for players to customize their very own heroes with.
