Emperor: Battle for Dune – Harkonnen Units

House Harkonnen lacks any sympathy for either its enemies or its own forces, and relies on brute force to accomplish their goals. Its special weapons are the most destructive pieces of technology: the Devastator, the Death Hand missile, and Inkvine Catapults.

Infantry

Harkonnen ScoutScout
Cost:
$30 | Prerequisites: none
Scouts are unarmed infantrymen whose stealthed suits and increased sight range allow for effective scouting.

Harkonnen Light InfantryLight Infantry
Cost:
$50 | Prerequisites: none
Armed with an assault rifle, this soldier deals reasonable damage to enemy infantry and is commonly used for early game scouting. Unless massed, Light Infantry is hardly useful for anything else.

TrooperTrooper
Cost: $90 | Prerequisites: none
The Trooper is a unit which excels in taking out enemy vehicles at a relatively long range, but is less effective against aircraft than the Ordos AA Trooper.

Flamethrower InfantryFlamethrower Infantry
Cost:
$150 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Barracks
Armed with a flamethrower, this soldier deals reasonable damage to enemy infantry. He can also inflame an area, damaging any unit that enters it.

Harkonnen EngineerEngineer
Cost:
$400 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Barracks
Engineers are used to capture enemy buildings or repair friendly ones. Although Harkonnen Engineers use a basic pistol for self-defence, they are extremely vulnerable on the battlefield and must be directed very carefully. Engineers are very slow.

Vehicles

HarvesterHarvester
Cost:
$1000 | Prerequisites: Refinery
This armour-plated vehicle seeks out and scoops up Spice, then transports it to a Refinery for processing. It is slow and unwieldy and will need to be protected. However, it is well-armoured and can take a beating until reinforcements arrive, and can crush infantry if the need arises. It can be transported to the Refinery and back to the Spice field by a Carryall.

BuzzsawBuzzsaw
Cost:
$350 | Prerequisites: none
Fast and moderately armoured, this unit is ideal for scouting an area quickly and taking out enemy infantry either with its dual cannons or with the massive central blade.

Assault TankAssault Tank
Cost:
$900 | Prerequisites: none
The Assault Tank is the basic Harkonnen anti-armour unit. It is a conventional armoured tank with reasonable anti-armour and anti-structure capabilities, but relatively slow.

MCVMobile Construction Vehicle (MCV)
Cost:
$2000 | Prerequisites: none
As you will see in the section on Harkonnen buildings, the heart of every base is the Construction Yard. When deployed, this vehicle becomes a Construction Yard, providing you with all of the benefits of that building. To deploy an MCV, select the vehicle and hold the cursor over it. If the cursor changes to a white circle with four arrows, left-clicking on it will deploy the vehicle. If the cursor has a red circle with a line through it, there is either not enough room to deploy or something is in the way. Move the vehicle (or the offending object) to find a suitable deployment site. The MCV must be protected at all costs.

Flame TankFlame Tank
Cost:
$900 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Factory
The Flame Tank is armed with two independent flamethrowers which allow it to take on two targets at once. It is slow and short-ranged, but has a high rate of fire.

Inkvine CatapultInkvine Catapult
Cost:
$1000 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Factory
The Inkvine Catapult is a powerful artillery vehicle that can devastate infantry and structures from afar with toxic residue that keeps damaging anything in the blast area, but it can not fire precisely at moving targets. It is very slow, but well-armoured.

Missile TankMissile Tank
Cost:
$1200 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Factory
This slow missile-armed vehicle is effective against vehicles and aircraft, but is vulnerable to infantry due to its poor armour and long reload time.

DevastatorDevastator
Cost:
$1750 | Prerequisites: Starport
The Devastator, Harkonnen’s signature late game vehicle, is one of the slowest units in the game, but also among the most powerful. It is armed with dual plasma cannons that can easily destroy enemy vehicles and structures, and even break enemy shields with a single hit. It also has a missile launcher on the top, to target any ground or air unit. Thanks to its atomic power plant, it can be ordered to self-destruct and deal considerable damage in the blast zone, but the explosion is also set off when the Devastator is destroyed by enemy fire.

Aircraft

Air Defense PlatformAir Defense Platform
Cost:
$1500 | Prerequisites: none
This slow aircraft is meant for air-to-air engagements, but it can also fire at enemy ground units.

CarryallCarryall
Cost:
$1100 | Prerequisites: none
The Carryall is able to transport a Harvester from a Spice field to the Refinery and back.

GunshipGunship
Cost:
$1000 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Hangar
The Gunship fires guided rockets that are more effective against large groups of infantry or light vehicles than those of the Atreides Ornithopter, but it must return to the Landing Pad for rearming when it fires its load.

Advanced CarryallAdvanced Carryall
Cost:
$1800 | Prerequisites: Upgraded Hangar
The Advanced Carryall is able to transport any ground vehicle across the battlefield, and is better-armoured than its standard counterpart.

unknownFrigate
Unbuildable

The Frigate delivers units to the Starport. It is blazing-fast and can not be controlled.
