C&C Community News – 4 December 2017

aEPwLqe.png&key=e7888cab3d50c19e753ab80d

Sometimes, the community just surges and there are many things to cover at once. This is definitely a good thing, meaning there are still people who find C&C games interesting as they are and/or as modding platforms. So here’s a roundup of recent community news:

  • The 1.16 version of Dawn of the Tiberium Age has arrived, and has already received a day-one update to version 1.1662, bringing new units, a new singleplayer mission, two co-op missions, new multiplayer maps, multiplayer auto-saves every 2 minutes, and so much more.
  • The team behind the Tiberian Sun Rising mod for Tiberium Wars has broken their silence that lasted since January, posting three new screenshots.
  • Our friends at the German C&C Saga are continuing with their series of interviews with mod developers, this time with W3D Hub considering their long-standing standalone game Red Alert: A Path Beyond. Read it here – it’s available in German and English.
  • In more “domestic” news, we are now using the space that used to be reserved for conventional ads to advertise projects from within the C&C community (and nothing else, so you won’t see any funny stuff!), and have created a poll for our next game night.

C&C Music Monday – Red Alert 2 Credits Theme

This week’s pick for Music Monday is another credits theme, this time from Red Alert 2. A seemingly looped composition, this track is quite a good pick for testing out the bass on your speakers or headphones. A new track will be posted next Monday. And as always, don’t forget to share this on social media using the hashtags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday. Also be sure to follow our new C&C Radio feature on the main site for more C&C music!

DBolical’s Mod of the Year and Indie of the Year 2017 Awards Started

dbolical2017.png

As has been tradition for many years, DBolical’s sites ModDB and IndieDB have begun the public voting for the 2017 Mod of the Year and Indie of the Year. Modders and indie developers take pride in these titles, and it is one hell of a recognition for the most successful projects out there. The voting process is easy – simply go to the ModDB/IndieDB profile of the project you want to vote for, click on Vote Now, and you’re done! You have until 11 December to do so, by which time the Top 100 mods and Top 100 indies will be unveiled, which will have their own voting process. On the 22nd, the Editors’ Choice will be published, followed by the Players’ Choice for unreleased projects on the 27th, and on the 29th, we’ll know the Players’ Choice for released projects. Get voting, and help your favourite C&C mod/standalone game get to the top!

Throwback Thursday for 30th November

633px copy.png

In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we feature easily the most-used unit that is specific to Kane’s Wrath – the Scrin Mechapede, a rather creatively designed customizable late-game unit. Although it starts with a head and a single secondary segment, this mechanized “vehicle” can be upgraded with up to 8 additional segments that can have different weapons that are effective against different enemy types. Its main weakness is the fact that it can not function without the head – destroy it and you take the entire unit down.

Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don’t forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you’ve missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. CNCNZ.com Game Night #2

gamenight2017b.png

It’s time for another CNCNZ.com game night! The intent is to make a multiplayer event for our forum members and followers, one where we’d just have fun with a chosen game or mod, without worrying of getting destroyed from higher-skilled players if we didn’t want it so. So here’s our chance of chilling out and playing C&C together.

We will be playing Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge via CnCNet on Friday, 1 December 2017 at 19:00 GMT. Information, rules, and links to guides to set up your game are in this thread. Be sure to prepare your game before the event!

Our friends at the German C&C Saga have published two interviews – one with the Twisted Insurrection team members Erastus and Crimsonum, and the other with Deep Impact developers Zeke_Dlyoung and Anubis_theDark. Both interviews go back to the beginnings of the mods, their overviews, and future plans, and are available in German and English.

C&C Music Monday – Bog

This week’s pick for Music Monday is another atmospheric track from Red Alert: The Aftermath – Bog. It’s another one of those tracks that you can get lost in and completely forget it’s part of a war-themed game. A new track will be posted next Monday. And as always, don’t forget to share this on social media using the hashtags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday. Also be sure to follow our new C&C Radio feature on the main site for more C&C music!

Throwback Thursday for 23rd November

633px copy.png

In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we remember a plot point in the Red Alert 2 Soviet campaign which has Yuri manipulating Premier Romanov to give him more power and launch more aggressive attacks against the Allies. While the promotional material for the game indicates that the Soviet invasion at the start of Red Alert 2 was a simple backstab by Romanov (who was an Allied puppet placed at the head of the USSR following the events of the original game), made as an act of revenge for the previous war, which caught the Allies completely by surprise. Although the Soviet campaign itself is non-canon, this might raise the question was the entire Soviet rebellion Yuri’s plot the whole time. Either way, this strained Romanov’s mind so much, alongside an assassination attempt made to frame Vladimir, that it eventually killed the Premier.

C&C Music Monday – Move It

This week’s pick for Music Monday is one of the fan-favourite tracks from Renegade – Move It. A short but sweet track that pumps up the adrenaline while playing, particularly in the singleplayer mission it appears in. A new track will be posted next Monday. And as always, don’t forget to share this on social media using the hashtags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday. Also be sure to follow our new C&C Radio feature on the main site for more C&C music!
